hi,

does anyone know of a cutout filter like there is in photoshop being available for after effects 6.0? or even 5.5? i am trying to put together an animated look to some dv footage, and i want to do it quickly. i have been toying around with find edges, but i like the look of the photoshop cutout filter much better. but my computer is incompatable with applying it to my footage in photoshop because it will not house enough memory to run it. full already... any ideas???

You can export your AE footage as a series a stills, then batch process in Photoshop. Then re-import back into AE. Clunky, but it works.

I don't understand how/why your computer is incompatable with applying it in Photoshop. Are you trying to apply it to a gigantic Filmstrip file?

look over at www.petewarden.com.
excellent guy, fantabulous plugs, and they're free!
there's one in the set called "vectorize".
bless pete's soul and all those like him.

No, there is no cutout filter for AE.

You cound try profound effects. They have a plugin with a programing language that may allow you to write one yourself.
