Hello gentleman,

I have After Effects CS4 9.01 running under Leopard 10.5.6, Initializes and it does not pass the "Media Core" part, then crashes. "I don't have plugins installed". I have a Mac pro with 6GB of RAM and a dual Quad Core Intel Xeon 3.0.
Anyone experiences the same issue? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What version of Quicktime? Any specific capture hardware or dedicated audio device? Have you tried to trash the prefs (Users:Javier:Prefs:Adobe:After Effects:9.0)?

I think you need to check this with BMD. There's certainly something afoot with their QT component/ AE plug-in for the card.

A crash on launch while MediaCore is initializing is a likely sign of a misbehaved codec.

Go to Library > Quicktime and try removing third party codecs. Move one to the desktop, restart your computer, launch the app. Keep doing it until you find the culprit. If it doesn't work for you, let me know. Of course, if the offending codec is identified, you can place the other codecs back in the Quicktime folder.

This procedure is described in detail in this technical support document:

150 :: 30 is a licensing error. Nothing you can do. I have a few tips on the matter on my website here <http://aeerrors.myleniumstuff.de/?cat=50>, but for the trial version they wouldn't normally apply. Do you by any chance use an external hard drive or was one plugged in during the install? If so, it may have confused the licensing system. Uninstall and try to reinstall without any drives, memory sticks or iPods attached to the system. Also, turn of Time Capsule and possibly change Spotlight's indexing schedule to avoid interference from those...
